| Born in Deep River
Ontario, Laura’s first real introduction to both art and
business began with chocolate many years ago. Working with chocolate
as a medium she found she could not only create good tasting work
but little pieces of art. Using many colours of chocolate, Laura
painted intricate pictures on the tops of her specialty filled
chocolates. This eye for detail and steady, patient hands led
to a job offer from Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. building tiny
electronics under a microscope. Although interesting, Laura did
not find this position creative enough.
Laura joined the Valley Artisan’s Co-op in 1999 where
she returned to her artistic roots. Working now with paints and
dyes, she can capture the two things she loves most in art, vibrant
colours and nature. On hot, sunny days Laura can be found outside
in her extensive gardens, capturing the beauty of botanicals in
sun dying.
Laura’s art is driven by her determination to learn new
things and her inner need to be challenged. She shares her life
and love of art with two sons, a treasured canoe and a plethora
of pets. |
