Katja Fritzsche is a recent arrival to Deep River and the Valley Artisans' Co-op, having moved here in 2003 from Berlin, Germany.

She has been painting and dying silk for more than 12 years. Katja was drawn to silk painting by her love for colour and the glorious softness of silk.

She continues to explore and experiment with the wide variety of techniques that can be used to bring the two together. Her silk scarves and ties are at once beautiful and functional.

Katja's scarf "Shift Change" is based on the photograph "Shift Change" by George McQuade.
